Test Lab Operator

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Test Lab Operator is responsible for executing day-to-day test operations as prescribed by the test engineers; prepares materials needed for running the tests and ensures that said materials are secured and accounted for and operates equipment needed to run the tests. He/she will provide data and/or reports as needed by the Test Engineers.

REQUIREMENTS:

•Must be a graduate of an IT-related or computer-related course.

•Proficient in written and oral English language.
•Must possess organizational skills sufficient to prioritize work and complete assignments accurately, either independently or as part of a team, under pressure of competing deadlines and with frequent interruptions, working from own initiative and/or following directions, policies, or procedures
•Willing to work in multi-shift operations
•Must have experience working in a computerized office environment with word processing, database and spreadsheet skills sufficient to prepare correspondence, reports, and forms with speed and accuracy, including the willingness to learn and use new computer programs/applications.
•Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks accurately.
•Ability to maintain records and files for easy access and retrieval.
•Ability to work in a flexible way that allows for changes in assignments and priorities depending upon identified needs of the business unit.

Responsibilities:
Craft’s Safety Officer

Programs all safety exercises as defined by statutory instruments and ship procedures.

Maintains the correct contents of the Craft’s Medical Equipment in accordance with the company’s standard list.

Records all safety and anti-pollution exercises in accordance with statutory regulations and Company procedures.

Identifies any communication or language problems among crewmembers and advice the Master accordingly.

Identifies any deficiencies in crewmembers’ training and advice the Master accordingly.

Instructs deck cadets/GP’s on relevant procedures.

Investigates audit-identified Non-Conformances and applying corrective action as agreed with the head of department/superintendents.

Ensures sufficient resources are available to maintain safety and anti - pollution equipment in a complete state of readiness.

Inspects all life saving appliances, fire fighting equipment and ensures that a valid inspection/service certificate is kept onboard.
Updates the charts.

Keeps and ensures complete complement of assigned crafts documentation, with any deficiencies being reported to the Master.

Supervises mooring activities and ensures arrangements are adequate with sufficient manning.

Ensures adequate and proper clothing and footwear is worn by GP’s in the execution of their deck duties and that they follow safe working practices in accordance with the Company’s Procedures.

Maintains the craft as regards to its painting, deck machinery, corrosion arrest and prevention.

Acts as craft’s point man with Operations Team in the acceptance, loading, unloading, & organizing baggage (excess or unaccompanied) onboard.

Performs any other function as directed by the Master or Shipmanagement.

Requirements:

Minimum Educational Requirement:
A graduate of accredited college/university with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation.
A holder of Third Mate license (depending on the manning requirement of the craft).

Minimum Experience Requirements:
At least one (1) year experience as acting Chief Officer on board a craft.
Knowledgeable in safe and efficient operation of passenger craft.

Knowledgeable in maritime policies, rules and regulation both domestic and international.

Knowledgeable in Quality Management System (QMS), International Safety Management (ISM) and International Ship and Port Security (ISPS).
Computer literate.
